Are you curious about the beauty and richness of the magical country of Tanzania? Then you’ve come to the right place, because Tanzania is our home! The land of Kilimanjaro, Zanzibar and the world-famous safari national parks.
We are experts in safari tours of Tanzania and specialists in vacations on Zanzibar. All managed by the Dutch owner Bert Schoonvelde. Years ago he came to Zanzibar for a vacation and fell in love with this beautiful place.
The combination of culture, incredible white sandy beaches and the largest game reserves in Africa makes Tanzania unique. “My vacations in Tanzania were too short to get to know this magical country, so I stayed and made my dream my work,” said Bert Schoonvelde.

Paradise & Wilderness at a glance
Paradise & Wilderness is a vertically integrated destination management company (DMC) specialising in safari and beach holidays in Tanzania and Zanzibar. Rather than relying on separate suppliers for every part of a journey, much of the travel infrastructure behind our trips is owned or operated within the Paradise & Wilderness Group.
The Schoonvelde family has been active in the hospitality and tourism industry for more than 30 years. The family business started in Europe in 1995 and has been operating in Tanzania since 2011.
Today, Paradise & Wilderness operates a portfolio of 22 lodges, camps and beach resorts across mainland Tanzania and Zanzibar. The Paradise & Wilderness Group also operates a fleet of more than 250 safari vehicles and 7 aircraft, with aviation services operated through Unity Air and sister company Beach Safari Airways.
Around 1,750 employees work within the Paradise & Wilderness Group in Tanzania, supported by approximately 150 additional employees in offices around the world. Around 300 safari guides and drivers work within the group, the majority of them directly contracted. All safari guides and drivers are certified and licensed in accordance with Tanzanian regulations.

Because many of these services are managed within the same group, travellers can combine a mainland safari with a Zanzibar beach holiday without their journey being handed over to a completely separate travel company.

Paradise & Wilderness works primarily with travellers departing from Europe. English, Kiswahili, German, French, Dutch, Spanish and Italian are spoken within the organisation, with pre-departure support available during European office hours.
Our integrated approach is particularly suited to travellers who prefer one operator to coordinate their complete itinerary, including safari, domestic connections, accommodation and the Zanzibar part of their journey, and who value travelling with an organisation that operates much of its own accommodation and infrastructure.

Getting off the plane, sniffing the specific smell and thinking, “Yes, I’m home again!” I experience that feeling time and again when I travel to this special country. After several wonderful trips through East Africa and having had the opportunity to live in Tanzania and on Zanzibar for almost two years, I have really found my passion in the work. To enthuse everyone to travel to Tanzania and Zanzibar and be enchanted by the unique combination this country has to offer.
