Kenmerken & FAQ
A safari and stay in Tanzania is completely safe. All our drivers and guides are experts in this field and have undergone extensive training to properly handle nature and animals. All necessary precautions are also taken at our accommodations to provide you with a safe place to stay.
No, this is unfortunately not possible. Due to the safety of you and the wildlife, it is not allowed to drive around on your own. A specialized guide and driver is therefore always included in our tours.
You can choose this for yourself. We offer tents or bungalows at all our resorts with private bathrooms, good beds and electricity. We also offer budget-proof safari tents at some resorts. These are more basic and have a shared bathroom. In addition, many of our resorts feature a swimming pool, restaurant, gym and public area with Wi-Fi.
Yes, there are differences in animals between northern and southern Tanzania, although they largely overlap. Both regions offer impressive wildlife experiences, but the type of landscape, concentration of animals and the way you experience them differ. Here's a clear overview:
- In northern Tanzania, you'll find iconic nature reserves such as the Serengeti and Ngorongoro Crater. Here you will see large herds of wildebeest and zebra during the Great Migration, impressive lion prides, and have the best chance of spotting the rhinoceros, one of the few places in Africa where you can complete the Big Five.
- Southern Tanzania is loved precisely for its tranquility, vast landscapes and adventurous safari style. In parks such as Nyerere and Mikumi you will encounter few other vehicles, but you will see many elephants, hippos and unique species. In particular, the rare wild dog is regularly seen here, something almost unheard of in the north.
In Tanzania, the Big Five: lion, elephant, buffalo, leopard and rhino, are best spotted in northern Tanzania.
You go on a private trip, alone or with your travel company. So you will not travel in a group. Our experienced and knowledgeable driver, who is also your guide, will proudly show you Tanzania.
Do you prefer to travel with a mixed group? Then take a look at the possibilities at our Group Tours and Shared Safaris.
For ages 5 and up, everyone is welcome to join the safari!

After you are picked up in Arusha or at Arusha Airport, you will depart with your private driver for Tarangire National Park. A game drive in this nature reserve promises to be an amazing first encounter with the wild essence of East Africa. You will soon be welcomed by the park's iconic baobab trees and vast grasslands. Tarangire is known for its dense elephant population and it is not uncommon to see large herds roaming the plains. In addition to these gentle giants lives a wide variety of wildlife, including lions, leopards, giraffes, buffalo, wild boar and a host of bird species. After a great first day, you will travel on to your first accommodation, Africa Safari Rift Valley where you will enjoy a delicious dinner and a well-deserved night's sleep.
Day 2 | Game drive in Lake Manyara National Park
Wake up in the serene peace of the accommodation and enjoy a sumptuous buffet breakfast, before boarding the safari jeep again for another game drive. Today, Lake Manyara National Park is on the program. A game drive in Lake Manyara National Park is a delightful exploration of one of Tanzania's hidden gems. The compact size of the park means you can easily cover it in a day, but it is packed with diverse wildlife and beautiful scenery. The shores of the alkaline lake are often lined with pink flamingos, while the lush groundwater forest is home to troops of playful baboons. Look out for the famous tree-climbing lions. You leave the park on the other side so you can continue your journey to Karatu. Here you will sleep at Africa Safari Karatu in a bungalow, enjoying 180-degree views of the valley from your private balcony.
Day 3 | Road trip through the Ngorongoro Conservation Area to Serengeti NP
Africa Safari Karatu is located on the border of the Ngorongoro Conservation Area, which you will get to know today. A road trip through this area is a journey through a geological wonder, where you make your way past the largest intact caldera in the world, the Ngorongoro Crater. You'll stop briefly at the crater rim to get a taste of your game drive on Day 9. Continue your adventure with a game drive in Serengeti National Park, where you'll enter one of Africa's most iconic and expansive game reserves. The vast plains of the Serengeti are home to the awe-inspiring Great Migration, where millions of wildebeest and zebra traverse the savannah in search of fresh grasslands, pursued by predators. But many other wildlife species will also pass by. So keep your eyes peeled.
Day 4 | Game drive in Ikona
Last night and tonight you will sleep at Africa Safari Serengeti Ikoma. This accommodation is beautifully situated on the border of Serengeti National Park. Many wildlife species like to pass by this accommodation, so start your day peacefully and well on your own veranda. Today you will explore the Ikona area with an exciting game drive. Tanzania has no fences, so wildlife can go anywhere. That means Ikona is an ideal place for a game drive. Families of wild boar like to run from spot to spot, while buffalo prefer to graze the fresh grass at their leisure. The secretary bird curiously checks out and the hyenas are looking for carcasses from which they can eat the last remnants. In short, another day of safari adventures.
Day 5 | From Central to Northern Serengeti National Park
Leave the vast plains behind and contemplate the hilly, rocky landscape as you drive north to Serengeti National Park. You soon notice that it becomes less crowded, making Northern Serengeti a must see for the true safari enthusiast. Sometime between August and late September, the Great Migration river crossing also takes place here. The natural spectacle of northern Tanzania. Millions of wildebeest and zebra migrate together towards Kenya, but are also closely followed by predators that hunt the weaker animals. Our driver will do his best to let you witness this spectacle. At the end of the day you will arrive at Africa Safari Maasai Boma, where you will spend the night in a traditional Maasai bungalow, which has all the comforts you desire on vacation.
Day 6 | Vast plains and lots of felines
The sun rises early from Kenya, coloring the region beautifully golden with the first rays of sunlight. From the restaurant you have a great view of this, so it is worth getting up early for this. Breakfast is served and you can start the day peacefully. The Maasai people pass by the accommodation with herds of cows or goats, while you grab a nice cup of coffee or tea. But there's not much time, because today you will once again enjoy the wonders Serengeti National Park has to offer. You'll travel back to Central Serengeti, ending again at Africa Safari Serengeti Ikoma. It may be the same area, but no day is the same. Again today you will be surprised by the wilderness of this famous park. Have you already spotted the entire Big Five: lions, black rhinos, elephants, buffalo and leopards?
Day 7 | Walking safari during sunset & Night game drive
Start your day quietly. The sun rises and will soon warm your tent with its first rays. Open your tent zipper carefully, as there is a chance that wild animals may pass in front of your tent. Take a seat on your veranda and realize that this is the ultimate safari experience. In the late afternoon, go on a walking safari during the enchanting sunset in Ikona, where the glowing horizon paints the landscape in golden hues.
After this fascinating experience and a delicious dinner at Africa Safari Serengeti Ikoma, you will go on a night game drive. Guided by spotlights, you will dive into the mysteries of the night savannah and observe elusive creatures such as lions, leopards and hyenas as they prowl and hunt for their prey. Exciting but a unique experience to complete your safari adventure.
Day 8 | From Central to South Serengeti
After a good breakfast, check out of Africa Safari Serengeti Ikoma and travel on to the South of Serengeti National Park to end at the Ndutu area. It is an ideal place to witness the Great Migration during the calf season. Thousands of newborn wildebeest join the Great Migration, making it a feast for predators and a prime location for wildlife enthusiasts and photographers. Africa Safari South Serengeti is in the middle of this area, making it the ideal accommodation. Not just at this time of year, as this area is home to many wildlife species throughout the year.
Day 9 | Game drive in the Ngorongoro Crater
Waking up in the wilderness surrounded by the pristine beauty of the Ndutu area is an extraordinary experience that immerses you in the heart of Africa's natural wonders. After breakfast and check-out, re-board the safari jeep with your private driver and travel on to Ngorongoro Crater, the heart of this unique and ancient caldera, home to a stunning variety of wildlife. From huge elephants to the rare black rhinoceros and from majestic lions to graceful flamingos at Lake Soda, the crater's diverse habitats make for a fascinating spectacle. Your last night of this 10-day safari journey will be spent at Africa Safari Lake Manyara. A green oasis where wildebeest and zebra love to come and graze on the grounds. The restaurant offers a delicious dinner buffet overlooking Lake Manyara and the vast plains. A good ending under the starry skies of Mto wa Mbu.
Day 10 | Road trip to Arusha
Depending on your follow-up plans, you will have the morning free to enjoy the facilities of Africa Safari Lake Manyara. After breakfast, you can take a refreshing dip in the pool or read a book on one of the lounge chairs. On your final road trip from Mto wa Mbu to Arusha, you will see the beauty of Tanzania's landscapes as you drive from the vibrant and culturally rich town of Mto wa Mbu to the bustling city of Arusha. From lush banana plantations and rolling hills to the picturesque backdrop of Mount Meru near Arusha. Once you arrive in Arusha or at Arusha Airport or Kilimanjaro Airport, you will be a safari experience richer.

Serengeti National Park
From vast plains to rocky ‘kopjes’
With vast open plains stretching to the horizon and an abundance of wildlife, Serengeti National Park crowns itself a true paradise for any safari enthusiast. Hence, we recommend that you set aside several days for this.
Serengeti National Park covers an impressive area of nearly 15,000 square kilometers and is rightly the largest and perhaps most popular national park in Tanzania’s northern circuit and perhaps in all of Africa.
The Serengeti is known worldwide as host to the Great Migration and many big cats such as lions, cheetahs and cheetahs. However, elephants, giraffes, hippos, crocodiles, buffalo and impala are also common residents here. This area is extremely popular because of the high probability of witnessing a hunting party of these predators. The landscape in northern Serengeti NP is characterized by “kopjes,” rocky granite formations that are more than 550 million years old and often serve as lookouts for these feline hunters during their search for prey.
Wildlife you can spot:
Wildebeests | Zebras | Thomson’s gazelles | Lions | Cheetahs | Cheetahs | Cheetahs | Cheetahs | Elephants | Giraffes | Hippos | Crocodiles | Buffalo | Impalas | Hyenas | Rhinos | Warthogs | Waterbucks | Vultures | Baboons | Mongoose | Aardvarks | Serval Cats | Meerkats

Every year, the six million wildebeest, and thousands of zebras and gazelles migrate through Serengeti National Park in search of fresh grass and water.
Seasonally, we know approximately where the Great Migration is located, but never exactly. This is due to many natural factors, which makes seeing the Great Migration very unique. Our drivers/guides always do their best to locate the Great Migration.
