Tanzania’s most beautiful national parks
Serengeti National Park: the heart of your tour of Tanzania
The Serengeti This iconic park is known for the annual Great Migration , in which millions of wildebeest, zebra and gazelle roam the plains in search of fresh grass. During your tour of the Serengeti, you have a great chance of spotting the Big Five and can enjoy unforgettable views.
Ngorongoro crater: a must-see during your tour of Tanzania
The Ngorongoro Crater is a natural wonder and one of the most impressive places you will visit during your tour of Tanzania. This gigantic crater is home to an incredible diversity of animals, from lions to the rare black rhinoceros. It is one of the best places to see wildlife up close and a not-to-be-missed part of any tour of Tanzania.
Tarangire National Park: Discover this slightly lesser-known gem of Tanzania
Although less well known than the Serengeti, Tarangire National Park is a hidden gem not to be missed during your tour of Tanzania. The park is known for its large herds of elephants, tree-climbing lions and ancient baobab trees. Here you can enjoy peace and quiet, away from the crowds, while still being able to spot many wild animals.
The best travel time for a tour of Tanzania
Tanzania is good to visit all year round, but the best time to travel depends on what you would like to see. If you come specifically to see wildlife, the dry period (from June to October) is the best time to travel to Tanzania. During this dry period, wildlife gather at water sources. Also, these months are the best for experiencing the Great Migration up close. The downside of this travel period is that there are often more tourists here as well. In the rainy months, there are fewer tourists and the country is a lot greener. Also in this period you can spot many wild animals, only they live spread over the country. So the best time to travel around Tanzania depends entirely on your wishes!
Discover the cultures and traditions of Tanzania on your tour
Tanzania consists not only of beautiful landscapes and wildlife, but is also richly filled with different cultures and traditions. In fact, in the country you will find up to 120(!) different ethnic groups, each with their own traditions and customs. During a tour with us you will have the opportunity to visit a Maasai village where the tribe will lovingly show you how they live. In addition, they also like to spoil you with local delicacies and cozy party nights.
Request roundtripEnd your tour in paradisiacal Zanzibar
After all the impressions you’ve gained on Tanzania’s mainland, it’s time to let it all land for a while. And where better to do that than on a pearly white beach with an azure blue sea in front of you? After your tour of Tanzania, also discover this beautiful island. On this island you can completely unwind and enjoy everything you have seen in the past few days. Not done exploring Tanzania yet? Visit different islands here and take a look at the country’s underwater world.
Frequently asked questions about a tour of Tanzania
The best months for a Tanzania tour are June through October. This is the dry season: animals gather at water sources, giving you a better chance of spotting them. Want to see young animals? Then January and February are ideal.
The rainy season occurs in March through May and November. Then it is quieter and greener, but some roads are more difficult to travel. Tanzania is beautiful all year round. But are you not fond of rain? Then you better avoid April and May, which is the peak of the rainy season.
The price of a tour of Tanzania depends on your trip length, accommodation type and season. At Paradise & Wilderness, at least the total price is total! We can guarantee this because we manage everything ourselves. The flights, transfers, accommodations, excursions and safaris. So with us you will not be surprised with hidden costs! Are you curious about what your ideal trip would cost? Check out our offer or contact us.
For a complete experience, we recommend a roundtrip of at least 10 to 14 days. This will allow you to visit multiple parks such as Serengeti, Tarangire and Ngorongoro, and possibly conclude with a few days of relaxation on Zanzibar.
Yes, you will need a tourist visa to vacation or tour Tanzania. You can apply for this upon arrival at the airport or in advance through the Tanzanian government’s official e-visa website. Make sure your passport is still valid for at least 6 months.
Tanzania is generally safe for tourists. Always travel with a reliable provider and follow local advice. In safari areas and on Zanzibar, tourism is well developed and safety is taken seriously.
Before touring Tanzania, we recommend contacting your family doctor for current advice.
Bring light, breathable clothing in neutral colors, a warm sweater or jacket for the cooler evenings, a sun hat, sunscreen, insect repellent, sturdy walking shoes, binoculars and, of course, your camera. For extra comfort, you can bring a seat cushion, because of course the safari jeep does not drive on smooth asphalt. Also, don’t forget your passport and travel documents.
The best safari clothing advice: dress like an onion! During a safari day, it is important to wear comfortable and practical clothing. Choose light, breathable fabrics such as cotton, and dress in layers so you can easily adjust to changing temperatures. Start with a short-sleeved T-shirt or top, a long-sleeved shirt over it, and a vest or light jacket for the cooler mornings and evenings.
Yes, many families choose to go on safari in Tanzania with children . There are child-friendly lodges and safari itineraries that are doable for younger travelers. However, it is helpful to discuss well in advance the best itinerary for your family.
Absolutely! Many of our trips end with a stay on Zanzibar, where you can relax on the white sandy beaches after your safari adventure. This combination of wilderness and relaxation is popular among many travelers, and we totally get it!
Yes, at Paradise & Wilderness you customize your Tanzania roundtrip. Choose which parks you want to visit, how long you want to travel and whether you also want to visit Zanzibar. We think along with you and create a trip that suits you perfectly.
Tipping is common in Tanzania, especially for guides and hotel staff. A guideline for a guide or driver is about $10 to $20 per day per traveler. For hotel staff, a few dollars per day is appropriate. Of course, tipping remains optional, but it is greatly appreciated.
Wi-Fi is available in most lodges and hotels, but keep in mind that the connection is not equally fast or stable everywhere. During safaris, you may experience limited coverage, especially in remote areas. Think of it as a chance to really go offline for a while and explore East Africa in all its splendor!
The official currency is the Tanzanian shilling, but in tourist areas American dollars are also often accepted. In lodges and larger hotels you can usually pay by credit card. For smaller expenses and tips, cash is handy. There are ATMs in the larger cities such as Arusha and Stone Town.
