Stone Town tour

Follow the steps of the past

Follow the trail of sultans, slaves and explorers in the winding streets of Stone Town. The guide will enchant you by telling you the events that Zanzibar shaped and taking you past the buildings where it all happened. Some of these sights include the former slave market and Anglican cathedral, the House of Wonders and Sultan’s Palace Museum, Freddie Mercury’s museum, the old Arab fort and infirmary and many more.

As you retrace the steps of the past, the tour gives you a glimpse of modern life in Stone Town. Explore the spice markets, seafood and fish market, fresh breads in wicker baskets and the neat piles of fruits and vegetables that locals sell from their mini stalls. You will also encounter local children playing in town and elderly people playing board games.

An optional stop at the Zanzibar Coffee House provides a respite from the heat, crowds and noise. A selection of cold drinks, coffee, tea and local sweets & seasonal fruits act as the perfect pick-me-up.
