Day 1 | International flight | Start of your safari adventure

Be sure to be at Schiphol on time today, because the trip to Tanzania is about to begin! It's a great adventure waiting for us and who knows, you may already get to know other fellow travelers today. Get on the plane and Safari Njema! That means Good trip in Swahili!

Day 2 | Arrival on Zanzibar | Stone Town

Take your first steps on Zanzibarian soil. Smell the wonderful typical fragrance and feel the itch for what lies ahead. After you pass through customs and collect your luggage, you will be warmly welcomed outside in the arrival hall by the local drivers and your travel buddy. Once everyone has arrived we will drive to our first destination, Stone Town.

Over lunch, we will get to know each other and fantasize about what we are all going to discover over the next few days. This afternoon is free to fill in. Will you explore the historic town on your own and treat yourself to typical souvenirs? Or join the city tour to learn more about the history of this ancient city full of character.

You can end the day in style with a delicious dinner. Stone Town is full of great catering establishments. A perfect start to this round trip!

Day 3 | Domestic flight to Arusha | Game drive in Tarangire National Park

We have an early breakfast and pack our things because it is time to fly to Tanzania. The safari is really going to start today. After a short domestic flight, we are met by the drivers and safari jeeps. We meet briefly and quickly get in to begin the road trip Tarangire National Park.

Tarangire National Park is known for its large groups of elephants that migrate through the park. The Tarangire River runs right through the park and is a drinking source for many animals. This makes spotting wildlife quite easy and this provides beautiful pictures. The diversity of landscapes is phenomenal and before you know it, the first day is already over. Tonight we sleep in a beautiful accommodation overlooking Lake Manyara.

Day 4 | Game drive in the Ngorongoro Crater

This day starts right off right, because today we are going to Ngorongoro Crater! It's time for a game drive in a geological wonder and natural paradise like no other. As you descend into the world's largest intact volcanic caldera, you are immediately surrounded by breathtaking scenery. The crater's high walls house a rich mosaic of ecosystems, creating a natural amphitheater that attracts an abundance of wildlife. As you explore the bottom of the crater, you will encounter the "Big Five" - lions, elephants, buffalo, leopards and rhinos - along with countless other species, all living harmoniously in this remarkable crater. A day full of spectacular encounters and views.

Once we leave the crater, the day is not over yet! Our route continues through the beautiful vast Ngorongoro Conservation Area before turning into Serengeti National Park. This iconic park is of course known for the Great Migration which experiences one of its highlights at this time of year. The calf season where the young wildebeest come into the world and join the masses. Tonight we sleep in Serengeti National Park, in the midst of this spectacle

Day 5 | Full day game drive in Serengeti National Park

You wake up in Serengeti National Park and with any luck, the wild animals are already walking past your tent when you open the zippers. Today is the day! We are going to mingle with the Great Migration that is in the middle of calf season at Lake Ndutu and in Serengeti National Park. Most calves are born in January and February, about 8,000 a day. The short grassy plains offer them some safety, as predators can be spotted more easily. But as it goes in nature, these young wildebeest attract many hungry predators, such as lions, cheetahs, leopards and hyenas.

After an impressive day, spend another night in Serengeti National Park. After a delicious dinner, walk under the stars with a ranger to your tent for another night in the wilderness.

Day 6 | Game drive in Serengeti National Park towards Ikona

As your adventure in Serengeti National Park continues, today you embark on a fascinating game drive from the southern wilderness to the central Seronera area. This transition takes you into the heart of the park, where the Seronera River and surrounding plains offer excellent opportunities to spot the Big Five and an abundance of wildlife. From the northern spectacle to the central area where you can see wildlife year-round. This drive promises to be a breathtaking trip with a wealth of incredible wildlife encounters in the heart of the Serengeti. When the day comes to an end, your safari adventure is not over because Africa Safari Serengeti Ikoma has a garden full of wildlife as it borders Serengeti NP. So be sure to linger on the private veranda of your safari tent.

Day 7 | Relax morning in the wilderness | Walking safari | Night game drive in Ikona

This morning you can relax in the middle of the wilderness. Enjoy the tranquility, admire the views of the surrounding nature, and recharge yourself at the lodge pool. A perfect balance between adventure and relaxation.

After lunch, we will embark on a more active wilderness adventure, a walking safari. Feel the earth beneath your feet as you explore the savannah with a knowledgeable guide. As the sun sets, you will be treated to a spectacular display of colors on the horizon, providing an unforgettable backdrop to your safari experience.

End the day with a unique night game drive. Once dusk falls, discover the night life of the savannah. Spot nocturnal animals like leopards, hyenas and porcupines, and experience the magic of the African wilderness under the stars.

Day 8 | Domestic flight to Zanzibar | Or extension on Zanzibar

That was our last night in the wilderness! If you really want to make the whole safari adventure complete, we recommend booking a balloon ride with it over Serengeti National Park. With this you will take to the air during sunrise to view the active animals from the air. After an hour of sailing, you will land safely back on the ground and a delicious breakfast will be waiting for you.

If you prefer to take it easy this morning, you can have breakfast in the breakfast room after a good night's sleep. The coffee is ready and the rolls are freshly baked again. After breakfast, we will pick up the balloonists and begin our final moments in Serengeti National Park. We will fly back to the tropical island of Zanzibar!

Day 9 | International flight to the Netherlands

Unfortunately, all good things come to an end. Today the suitcases have to be packed for the last time, because we are flying back to the Netherlands. The driver will drop you off safely at Zanzibar airport, where you can check in for your flight back to the Netherlands. By the evening you arrive at Schiphol Airport with a good dose of new experiences, stories and fond memories. The trip has unfortunately come to an end, but your camera is probably full of beautiful photos to make sure you will never forget this adventure.

Would you like to extend this safari adventure with some wonderful beach days? Then that is certainly possible! We have four beautiful beach resorts where you can recover from the amazing safari. Enjoy the vast beaches, discover the underwater world during a snorkeling or diving excursion or discover the local spots on the island with one of our local guides. Ask us about the possibilities.
